All-makes auto repair on El Cajon Blvd. Formerly Rob's Automotive, this La Mesa shop has served neighborhood drivers at the same location since 1996.

01Same shop, new name

This corner was Rob's Automotive for years. Same building, same phone number, and a garage that has repaired cars here since 1996.

The sign changed. The way customers get treated did not. If you have been coming here for years, thank you. If it has been a while, call and bring the car in. The shop would be glad to see you back.

02The owner

Meet Francisco

Francisco's first shop was the neighbor's garage. A working technician lived next door, restoring cars for a living, and as a teenager Francisco was there learning small repairs whenever he could help.

The route from there was direct: automotive school after high school, then 13 years with Mercedes-Benz. He left the dealership as Lead Technician over a crew of 4 to 8, holding both ASE Master and Mercedes-Benz Master certifications.

La Mesa Autoworks puts that dealership training to work on a neighborhood scale, on the same El Cajon Boulevard corner where Rob's Automotive served drivers for decades. Subaru, Acura, Honda, Toyota, European vehicles and all other makes are welcome.

Away from the lift, he is a new dad. Ask about the baby and you will see pictures.

Mercedes-Benz Master: The maker's own top technician certification.
ASE Master Technician: Certified across the full set of ASE automotive tests.
Lead Technician: 3 years leading a crew of 4 to 8 technicians. In the trade since 2009.

The cause gets fixed

A part swapped to make a warning light go away is not a repair. The shop finds why it failed and fixes that.

The price is the price

You approve a number before any work starts, and that is the number on the bill.

The car comes back right

Seat covers on, correct parts in, and a road test before the keys leave the building.

Stage 01 · Where it began

The neighbor's garage.

Growing up beside a working technician meant early access to real repairs. As a teenager, Francisco was already handling small jobs in that garage.

Stage 02 · Training

Trade school first.

The plan never wavered. Out of high school he enrolled in automotive school and came out of it with a direct path into the field.

Stage 03 · 13 years

Master-level training.

His 13 years with Mercedes-Benz taught him how these cars are built and earned him both master certifications: ASE Master and Mercedes-Benz Master.

Stage 04 · Leadership

Running the floor.

As Lead Technician he spent 3 years responsible for a crew of 4 to 8 and for the quality of everything that left the shop.

Stage 05 · Today

Owner, technician, one and the same.

La Mesa Autoworks is his shop now. The person under the car is the person who answers the phone, on the same corner drivers have used since 1996.
